San José State University's Compliance with the New NCAA Policy on Campus Sexual Violence

On August 8, 2017, the NCAA adopted a Policy on Campus Sexual Violence. The new Policy, effective immediately for 2017-2018, requires coaches, college athletes and athletics administrators to complete education each year in sexual violence prevention. San José State University conducted a rigorous analysis of the Policy to determine how to comply fully with the requirements. Given the University's substantial mandatory Title IX educational requirements for students, faculty and staff, we are already in complete compliance with the Policy and will continue to satisfy the requirements going forward. Athletics and the Title IX Officer are partners in ensuring that prevention of sexual violence is of the highest priority at San José State University. Please see the NCAA's Policy here:

Title IX — Haven and HavenPLUS Educational Training

San Jose State requires all incoming students to complete Haven or HavenPLUS, a mandatory online sexual assault education program.

Title IX requires institutions to take necessary precautions to prevent sexual assault on their campuses, and to respond promptly and effectively when an assault is reported.

To fully comply with Title IX, the CSU Chancellor’s Office issued Executive Order 1095, which mandates educational training programs to prevent sexual violence. Please see this link for more information on the University’s requirement:
